On its eve, the stylized chhaam dance with elaborate costumes and masks, commemorate the assassination of the cruel Tibetan king, Langdarma of the 9th century. Often - though wrongly - called 'the devil dance', it symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

Day 2: Leave for Palampur / Mcleodganj / Dharamshala for en route photography sessions - 3 hrs travelling time.

Palampur is a green hill station and a municipal council in the Kangra Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, surrounded by tea gardens and pine forests before they merge with the Dhauladhar ranges. Abundance of water and proximity to the mountains has endowed it with mild climate. Palampur is also hometown of Capt. Vikram Batra who was awarded Paramvir Chakra. The town has derived its name from the local word palum, meaning lots of water. There are numerous streams flowing from the mountains to the plains from Palampur. Optional Excursions: Trihund peak/Udichi Huts: (77 kms), Just below the snowline lies the picturesque locale the Trihund peak afoot of the perpetually snowclad Dhauladhar and height of 2,827 meters. The snowline starts at the Iilaqa-5kms from Trihund and affords breathtaking view of snow above the valley below. It is a popular picnic and trekking spot with its breathtaking views and lovely forest rest house (about 10kms). Another place to visits is Kunal Pathari. Day 5: Palampur - Dalhousie

After an early breakfast depart around 8 am for Dalhousie - lunch can be had en-route at a number of quaint little dhabas. Reach Dalhousie approx around 3 or 4 pm. Relax and watch the sunset from the lovely lawn. Dalhousie is a quaint hill station that offers magnificent views of the Chamba Valley and the spectacular Dhauladhar range. Named after Lord Dalhousie, the erstwhile Governor of Punjab, Dalhousie still retains its old world British charm and a lush green cover of pine, deodar and oak trees that adorn its winding roads and Valleys. Overnight at Dalhousie.

Day 6: Palampur Dalhousie Photography

Visit the Khajjiar, Chamba and Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary. Lunch can be had in the small restaurants or dhabas that are found everywhere. The Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary has barking deer, ghoral, Himalayan black bear and large avifauna population. Other sights include the beautiful churches, Bakrota, Panchpula and Bara Pathar. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Dalhousie Photography

Relax or complete excursion of Chamba and Khajjiar. From the road the turf slopes away, gently, into a great, green, bowl hemmed in by the dark sentinels of the deodar trees, the revered cedars of the Himalayas. Local sightseeing: Khajjiar meadow, Lakshmi Narayan & Chamundadevi Temples, Bhuri Museum and many more. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Dalhousie- Amritsar

Leave Dalhousie early in the morning by 8 am. Arrive at Amritsar and check into your hotel. Proceed to Wagah border. Located on the Indo-Pakistan border, Wagah is 35 kilometres from the Amritsar main town. Must watch: The change of guards and the flag hoisting and lowering activities which are done with great skill and precision by the border security forces of both the countries. A site you cannot afford to miss. A visit to the Golden Temple in the evening during sunset. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Amritsar Depart

If time permits, visit the Golden Temple in the morning and transfer for return flight to onward destination.
